Every few years, we’re gifted ducklings growing up on the lake in our backyard. The group of nine ducklings featured in the video above turned into seven ducks that have been living on the lake for the past two years.
This year (in early February) one of the original nine showed up with seven ducklings of her own.
February is early for ducklings (at least for us). Normally, they appear in April. But our unseasonably warm December in Texas (think summer), then a week of unseasonably cold weather, coupled with summer-like weather again a few weeks later led to the duck laying her eggs and us getting some early in the season ducklings.
My hubby Igor hasn’t been able to snap a decent picture of them yet. But each time we have a sighting of them, they bring me so much joy that I foraged through my videos to find some footage of when their mama was a baby duck. I thought maybe others would find the joy in this as well. A good reminder, for all who need it, that spring is coming. Enjoy!
